Pathwell Credentials

Education That Ends With Demonstrated Knowledge and Applied Competency

The Pathwell AI Health Navigation Program is designed to move beyond passive learning. Participants progress through structured education, assessments and applied navigation scenarios that evaluate knowledge, professional judgment and responsible use of artificial intelligence in healthcare navigation.

Successful learners have the opportunity to earn three progressive Pathwell credentials as they advance through the complete program.

What Pathwell Credentials Represent

More Than Course Attendance

Pathwell credentials are tied to defined educational requirements. Learners are expected to complete the required curriculum and demonstrate understanding through the assessments and applied activities associated with each stage of the program.

Structured Learning

Learners complete a sequenced curriculum that builds from foundational concepts to privacy, security, responsible AI use and advanced patient-navigation application.

Demonstrated Knowledge

Knowledge is evaluated through required assessments and competency-based questions rather than course access or attendance alone.

Applied Judgment

Advanced learners apply navigation principles to realistic situations involving competing priorities, privacy, professional boundaries, verification, escalation and decision ownership.

Complete Program

A 15-Module Learning and Assessment Pathway

The Pathwell AI Health Navigation Program combines instruction, assessment and applied practice. Credential requirements become progressively more advanced as the learner moves through the program.

Knowledge & Competency Assessment

Learners complete required assessments throughout the curriculum, including the Foundation Final Exam, HIPAA Competency Assessment and Advanced Competency Assessment at the applicable stages of the program.

Applied Practicum

Module 15 includes five applied practicum cases that require learners to work through realistic navigation situations and apply professional scope, prioritization, verification, privacy, escalation, documentation and responsible AI principles.

Passing Standard: Pathwell competency assessments use a minimum passing standard of 80%. Learners must also satisfy the applicable lesson, assessment and practicum requirements for the credential being earned.
AI-Assisted Health Navigation

Core Areas of Proficiency

Responsible AI Use

Understanding the appropriate supporting role of generative AI, recognizing its limitations and maintaining human responsibility for verification, professional judgment and appropriate escalation.

Privacy, HIPAA & Information Protection

Applying privacy, security, minimum-necessary, authorization and responsible data-handling principles when working with patient information and digital tools.

Verification & Escalation

Recognizing when information requires verification through authoritative sources and when questions or concerns must be escalated to qualified clinical, pharmacy, privacy, compliance, insurance or other appropriate professionals.

Navigation & Care Coordination

Organizing healthcare information, appointments, referrals, resources, administrative requirements, responsibilities, deadlines and follow-up while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Patient & Caregiver Communication

Supporting understandable communication, health literacy, teach-back, patient autonomy and appropriate caregiver involvement without replacing qualified decision-makers.

Applied Professional Judgment

Prioritizing complex navigation needs, recognizing safety concerns, identifying decision ownership and coordinating appropriate next steps in realistic patient-navigation situations.

An Important Distinction

What a Pathwell Credential Does and Does Not Mean

Pathwell uses credential language carefully. Each certificate documents successful completion of defined Pathwell educational and competency requirements.

What It Represents

A Pathwell credential documents that the learner completed the applicable Pathwell curriculum and demonstrated the knowledge or applied competency identified for that credential.

What It Does Not Represent

A Pathwell credential is not a healthcare license, professional license, government certification or third-party board certification. It does not independently authorize a learner to diagnose, prescribe, make treatment decisions or perform activities outside the learner's professional role, organizational permissions or applicable law.

HIPAA Credential Clarification: The Pathwell HIPAA Certificate documents completion of Pathwell's healthcare privacy, security and responsible AI training requirements. It does not certify that an individual, organization, technology product or AI platform is universally "HIPAA compliant." Compliance depends on the specific role, organization, technology, safeguards, agreements, policies and circumstances involved.

For Organizations

Education Built Around Demonstrated Completion

Organizations may use applicable Pathwell education and credentials as part of their own internal training, onboarding or readiness requirements for employees, contractors or volunteers.

The organization remains responsible for defining each individual's role, supervision, permissions and responsibilities, along with any additional education, credentialing, licensing or compliance requirements that apply to that role.

For example, Islands Against Cancer may require designated volunteers to successfully complete applicable Pathwell training and assessment requirements before participating in certain patient-facing navigation activities.
Credential Integrity

Pathwell Credentials Should Mean Something

Pathwell's credentialing approach emphasizes clear learning objectives, meaningful assessment, documented completion, applied competency where appropriate and accurate descriptions of what each credential represents.

Clear Standards

Learners should understand what must be completed, what competencies are being evaluated and what passing requirements apply.

Accurate Language

Pathwell credentials are described according to the education and demonstrated proficiency they actually represent, without implying licensure or authority the credential does not provide.

Relevant Education

Pathwell education is built around practical healthcare navigation challenges, responsible technology use and real-world application rather than credentials created for appearance alone.
